MANMADAN AMBU – The Lovely Arrow!!

Mr. Perfectionist, Mr. Charming and Ms. Beauty along with a team of performers framed by Mr. Entertainer is “MANMADAN AMBU” in a single line.

A good movie is made when the right script is acted by the right cast; and the team of Kamal Hassan and entertainer director K.S.Ravikumar has proved it many times with classic movies that have enthralled the audience over the ages. The latest flick to hit the screen has got even better and is the perfect Christmas Gift for the young and old.

The story revolves around Ambujakshi alias Nisha (Trisha) the actress and her over possessive boy friend and Business Tycoon Madanagopal (Madhavan). A worried and confused Ambu goes on a foreign vacation and a cruise along with school buddy Deepa, a divorcee with two kids who is enjoying the alimony of the break-up. As Ambu moves around with her friend and thinks about where her relationship is going and how to get it back, a misguided Madan hires a private detective to keep watch on her. Major R Mannar (Kamal) has made a deal with Madan that he would keep an eye on Ambu and would report about her provided the medical expenses of his friend is taken care of who is back at Chennai being treated for cancer.

Things go fine and the Major is convinced that Ambu is an honest lady who is in love and thoughts of Madan only and he reports the same to Madan. A relaxed Madan does not keep his word of taking care of the medical bills and things go haywire for the Major as his personal commitments reach a dead end. Thus comes a new plot completely devised by the Major to get the Business Tycoon (Tisness Bycoon as said by him when he is sloshed) on his nerves and reports of a guy who is meeting Ambu. Meanwhile Ambu and Major get to know of each other better and also of a dark past which brings them closer. From there on its speedy fun ride which is perfectly scripted and pulled out by the team.

Sangeetha, Manju Pillai, Kunjan, and the two kids along with the main leads make the last 20 minutes a fun ride which keeps the audience rocking the chairs with sensible and perfect comedy delivered in the right time.

Ulaga Nayakan is at his usual best but it’s Madhavan who steals the show with his tremendous performance. Sangeetha has made a perfect come back through an absolute entertainer. Trisha is good and Usha Utup makes it right to the character as Madhavan’s mother. Ramesh Aravind and Urvashi require a special mention. The sad part is that a brilliant actor, Sreeram, is not made to do his usual best at comedy. Like always we have the director making his screen presence as himself and a surprise cameo by Suriya.

The tunes and BGM are catchy with the DSP magic all over the movie. Justice has been done to the songs with Ulaga Nayakan crooning to 2 awesome songs and 1 poem, the Kamal Kavithai. Splendid locations, one marvelous cruise ship, and no nonsense make MANMADAN AMBU a lovable arrow!!
